24/7 Emergency Care – Here When You Need Us Most

Welcome to Riverside

Riverside Vets is an independent small animal practice in Bishopstoke, caring for pets across Eastleigh and the surrounding area. We take time to really get to know your pet – their personality, routines, and what matters most to you.

Independence means we make decisions based on what’s right for your pet, not a set rulebook. You’ll see familiar faces, with an experienced team who stay, listen, and build genuine relationships.

From puppies and kittens to older pets needing extra support, we focus on calm, thoughtful care. We offer 20-minute consultations, are proudly feline-friendly, provide space for nervous dogs, run dog confidence clinics, and offer a preventative healthcare plan with all-inclusive consultations. We also provide a full range of clinical services, including dentistry, to keep your pets healthy and happy.

* WARNING GRAPHIC IMAGES*Meet Dash! Dash is a chinchilla belonging to Jess one of our vets. Dash unfortunately hurt his eye. Because he couldn't see and the eye was causing him discomfort it was decided that the best option was to remove the eye, a procedure called an enucleation.Dash was anaesthetised and carefully monitored by Registered Veterinary Nurse Lois. Jess removed the eye and the surrounding conjunctiva. Our new cautery unit was used to control bleeding, which is especially important in smaller animals.Dash recovered really well and went home the same day and is now back to causing his usual mischief with his brothers! ... Jenna’s Confidence Journey 💜Meet Jenna, she is a Hungarian Mudi rescue from Hungary. Following her first visit to the vets, Jenna was a little unsure about the environment and what to expect, so we started confidence clinics to help her build a positive association with the vets and work towards her vaccination date.Izzy, our Registered Veterinary Nurse, has been working alongside Jenna and her owner to introduce the veterinary environment in a way that works for Jenna, allowing her to build confidence at her own pace. What we’ve been working on:🐾 Building positive associationsUsing positive reinforcement, puzzle games and simple activities to help Jenna feel more comfortable and engaged in the clinic.🐾 Cooperative careScratch board training to help with nail care, allowing Jenna to actively participate, minimising handling stress. 🐾 Stethoscope desensitisationGradually introducing the stethoscope using touch and reward based training, allowing Jenna to progress at her own pace.🐾 Confidence with handlingIntroducing behaviours such as a chin rest to encourage calm and cooperative handling. Alongside touch desensitisation. Jenna also had her vaccination during her most recent visit and was a superstar! ⭐ we followed the consult with a confidence clinic session to maintain the positivity. The aim of these sessions is to help Jenna learn that the vets is a safe and positive place, while building trust with the environment and the staff. It’s all about taking things at Jenna’s pace, using positive reinforcement and celebrating the small steps along the way. 🐾 ...
